What is White Chocolate Mocha?

The White Chocolate Mocha is one of Starbuck's most popular recipes. Traditionally, a mocha is a creamy chocolate-flavored coffee drink.

This one, of course, is modified by using white chocolate instead of the traditional dark or milk chocolate.

How do I make White Chocolate Syrup?

The only part of this recipe that takes any time at all is making the syrup. The good news is, it only takes about 5 minutes and you can make it ahead of time so you have enough to make this white chocolate mocha recipe all week.

Heat your half and half up in a small saucepan over medium high heat. Once it is piping hot or just beginning to boil, take it off the heat!

Then, just stir in the white chocolate chips and coconut oil and that's it! You can store it in a small airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

If it hardens a bit in the fridge, just pop it in the microwave in 10 second increments, stirring in between. The recipe below makes enough for 4 drinks.

Do I need an espresso maker?

If you consider yourself a coffee or espresso connoisseur, don't come for me when I say this... but no. You do not need an espresso maker.

Honestly, by the time you add in the milk and the white chocolate syrup, it's not going to matter whether you're using real espresso, plain ole strong coffee, or instant espresso, so use whatever is easiest for you.

How to make this White Chocolate Mocha recipe

Once you have the white chocolate syrup, this is the easy part.

Heat up your milk (I used whole milk but you can use whatever your preference is) and combine it with your coffee or espresso and a couple tablespoons of the white chocolate syrup. You'll see that the ingredients are really quite simple.

Too sweet? Add more coffee. Not sweet enough? Add more syrup. Looking for a skinny white mocha recipe? Make it with low-fat milk! We are firm believers in adjusting recipes to fit your tastes so make your white chocolate mocha coffee how you want!

What else can I do with White Chocolate Syrup?

It was all I could do to not just eat this syrup with a spoon. It reminded me of licking out the sweetened condensed milk can as a kid when my mom was making fudge. Sweet, creamy decadence.

The syrup recipe below makes about enough for 4 white chocolate mochas, but you can also use it on your Hot Chocolate Bar, or served over any dessert. This syrup would take a bowl of ice cream to the next level!

Your cup of mocha will be a special treat with any of these:

  • Sourdough French Toast
  • Charleston Pecan Chewies
  • Blueberry Orange Nut Bread
  • Red Velvet Cookies
  • Hummingbird Bread (with Cream Cheese Glaze)
  • Sweet Potato Muffins with Crumb Topping and Praline Glaze
  • Banana Pecan Pancakes
  • Cinnamon Scones

If you're looking for that coffee taste, but want something a little stronger, try our Smith and Kearns co*cktail.
