Frontier Airlines has announced new seasonal service between Cleveland and the two busiest airports along the South Carolina coast.

The discount carrier’s flights from Myrtle Beach International will operate three times a week starting May 21 through an undisclosed date. A new nonstop route from Charleston International will run four times a week starting May 17.

“Our growth in Cleveland is soaring,” Frontier CEO Barry Biffle said in a prepared statement.

The Denver-based carrier said it's offering fares as low as $19 to introduce the new city pairings.

Frontier has served Myrtle Beach since 2018. It also flies nonstop to Denver, Philadelphia and Islip, N.Y., from the Grand Strand airport. The new Cleveland flight will operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

"As an ultra-low-cost carrier, Frontier provides excellent, budget-friendly options for MYR travelers,” Judi Olmstead, Horry County airports director, said in a written statement. “Cleveland is an especially popular market for Grand Strand tourism and we expect these new flights to be a great success."

The Charleston-Cleveland service will operate each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

A Frontier spokesperson said the airline is in the process of a major network redesign to increase service on routes that are “underserved and/or overpriced.” Charleston, which hasn't had nonstop flights to Cleveland since 2019, was identified as one of the markets.

The carrier expanded to CHS six years ago this month. It currently flies to Philadelphia International from the Lowcountry.

Helen Hill, CEO of Explore Charleston and chair of the Charleston County Aviation Authority, said that the new Cleveland service will be a convenience travelers going to and coming from the Great Lakes Region

Frontier is among several carriers that beefing up their schedules. United Airlines is adding another daily flight between Charleston International and Houston and Spirit Airlines is adding two spring and summer routes to New York City and Boston. Also, Breeze Airways is launching twice-weekly flights to Los Angeles as well as Newburgh, N.Y.

Similarly, airlines that serve Myrtle Beach also have recentlyannouncednew routes to and from the state's biggest visitor destination.
